My horse and best friend

Amazingly fast, incredibly strong, tirelessly proud, fantastically gentle, he is a huge dark beast that touches the hearts of all who meet him.
He has known joy and violence. Felt the warmth of children and the cruelty of abuse. He has nearly died saving lives and merely been killed by a drunken act. He has known the finery of grand estates and the filth of stinking slums. He has survived fire and flood, starvation and torment.
And nothing could break his spirit-or his great love.
This is HIS life.
He is called the horse- Anna Sewell

Scooter-my baby. He's going to be 27 years old in April. This picture was taken around X-mas '05. He looks pretty damn good for his age. He is getting a cataract and his arthritis flares up more, the last 2 years he has been 100% retired. We still go for our trail rides and roam around, but he is ridden easily. The Vet visited a few months back and she said his eyes were still in great shape, she gave us a new anti-inflammatory in a paste form, and some feed supplements. Scooter has been on the Equine Senior feed for about 2 full years now, he does get his hay because he is a hay wallower. This full feed is excellent for older horses, I highly recommend it. Last week the telephone company (ours is a privately owned one) had contracters working in my area because we are slowly graduating to buried phone lines and fiber-optics. Scooter watched those guys working all week-silly horse!

My human best friend L. had a birthday today. The big 37-omg! We laughed today at how when we were teenagers or even in our 20's we thought ANYONE in thier 30's was ancient. I caught her on her lunch break from the Courthouse, she looked happy to me. Its been many years since 4th grade soccer when we first met! L. is awesome, and she has about as much horse-sense as the best, I'd trust her anyday with my horse.

On the Res today something was happening. I was there twice today, once to pick up my oldest from school and another cutting thru to go up the big hill to the county park. County Deputies and a few Indian law out and about. My first instinct is bench warrants or just plain warrants. Tuesday at the Courthouse is juvie day, hmmm. I am sure whatever it is, if it is indeed something, I ll hear 'bout it soon enough.

Warpath

This is the face of pure evil. From the first time I looked at Entwistle's eyes, I knew, it is there, the deep seeded evil. The entire Entwistle story is below at the link. At the very beginning of this case, I visited one of the crime forums where some UK citizens were posting. They were in agreement that Entwistle would not receive a fair trial in the U.S. I totally disagree. Law Enforcement and the Prosecuter handling this murder case have so far covered all thier bases, they will not screw it up now. Entwistle has acted guilty from the start-his alleged amnesia, lying about the gun, fleeing to the UK, not immediately cooperating with Law Enforcement. At the link, baby Lillian is an absolute angel, always smiling for the camera. This man(using the term lightly), Entwistle, cold bloodedly shot and killed his own baby, wife. Today, I am all for public lynchings!

Gary Graham is Tulsa's serial rapist. He has been officially charged today. Families in the Tulsa area are breathing a small sigh of relief that this child predator has been caught. This sick creep snatched sleeping children from thier beds and raped them. More of the story at the link.

Another thorn in my paw, Andrea Yates, the mother who drowned her 5 children that pleaded innocent by reason of insanity. Yes, shes insane alright, crazy to think she can get away with killing children in Texas! Well, now it appears she is staying at some cushy 'Mental Hospital' and has pleaded Not Guilty AGAIN in her upcoming trial, thus turning down a plea deal she was offered. Her previous conviction was over-turned because of some idiot who lied under oathe. More at link.

Now for the last story-I needed a big laugh while waiting for the handsome plumber to arrive. I have a leaky hot water pipe. At one time, Anna Nicole Smith was a great beauty compared constantly to Marilyn Monroe. After Smith's career took off, compliments of Guess Jeans, she became a household name and achieved her own piece of stardom. But true to her trailer park trash roots, she trashed a good thing. I once watched a documentary on HBO (not the entire film) about where Anna Nicole came from. She came from a very low class, uneducated, and poor upbringing. The family that was interviewed in the movie gave thier honest opinion about Smith. Her family cared for her and missed her. I remember being suprised that Smith had not helped out her family in a monetary way after she starting earning mega bucks. This is a case of Karma-what comes around goes around, look at her now. What a joke! Today she is back in the news trying to grab her elderly and deceased rich husband's money. I would hope that our Nation's Supreme Courts had better things to do, obviously NOT. Slaughter no more wild horses...

Please check out the BLM website. They have made it even easier now to adopt a wild horse (mustang). These horses are a part of America's history and its heartbreaking when they are sold for slaughter because the Government doesnt have the funds to support them. Our Politicians would rather have huge expense accounts, fancy offices, and elaborate vacations. The Wildhorse Preserve in my area gets by on some personal donations. I would like to give a HUGE thank you to the ones who contribute.

trash time

Happy Monday-yeah right! Monday at my homestead is cleaning day-ick. Everything gets a good scrubbing/disinfecting and any litter laying around cluttering that doesnt have a proper place goes into the trashcan. My dear husband, who has pack rat tendencies, and I have had some major disagreements over my 'throw it away' mentality. My mind is cluttered enough, I do not need my physical enviorment to match. Here are a few stories close to home:

WTF?!?!! Where is it written that the Death Penalty should be a painless procedure? okay, maybe some ACLU idiot can find something to that reference but they are a bunch of wacks. Anyhow-these criminals who are sentenced to the Death Penalty havent ended up on Death Row for being good humans. They are there because of a premeditated, heinious crime that they are guilty of committing. So, they have a twinge of pain in thier final minutes, that is NOTHING compared to the pain they have inflicted on thier victim or thier victim's loved ones. I'll stop now or else I could rant about this subject forever.

Another reason NOT to let my 12 year old son use the mens restroom alone:

Here is another heartbreaking story about an abused and ultimately murdered toddler. Raye Dawn Porter makes me sick. As a mother of a 2 year old boy, I am judging this woman who allowed her innocent child be abused and killed by her 'stepfather'. It is time these 'mothers' are held accountable for not protecting thier children.

dazed and confused

My very first post. I wish I had something witty and intellectual to post but it is 9 p.m. on a Sunday nite-I am exhausted.

This next story is too close to home! Texas scare.
