Missing, Teresa Lynn Butler Part II

Teresa Lynn Butler , 35, is missing from her rural home near Risco, MO. Teresa went missing in the middle of the night on 1/25/06. She is a mother of 2 boys, a loving daughter, friend, and she is also the wife of Gary Dale Butler. Teresa is employed in the photo department at the Dexter, MO Wal-Mart.

Dale Butler reported he returned home from his job at a steel mill in Blytheville, Ark. to find his two young sons, ages 2 and 4, alone in the family home on County Road 241, also known as Eight Ditch Road, just off Highway 62 on the outskirts of Risco. The youngest child was awake and in his bed, while the older child was still sleeping.

This is not my first post about Teresa. You can read it here:

On 1/28/06 I came across a news article about Teresa's disappearance and something about it got my hinky meter going up on high alert. Usually, cases that happen near or in my state I take more notice of because, someday I might be able to help out, as far fetched as it may seem, it does happen. But, when I read Teresa's story, I got a feeling, one I cant seem to shake about her disappearance. I think someone knows something, and that someone isint talking...yet.

I started a message board thread for Teresa here:
Courttv.com Message Boards - Teresa Lynn Butler, 35, Risco, Mo. - msg. 1/25/06
Almost immediately after reading her case is when I started the thread. A poster at this forum has stated she once lived with Mr. Butler and that he has a violent temperment.

Some things that do not add up:

  • Someone close to the investigation has said police were called to the Butler home by Teresa's sister-in-law on the morning of Jan. 25.
  • No strange fingerprints or DNA were found.
  • At work earlier that day, Teresa was allegedly upset and crying but refused to discuss what the problem was.
  • Officers found no forced entry into the home, no blood and a number of items missing. Butler's purse that contained her digital camera is missing, as well as a video camera and her cell phone.
  • A big Mag-Lite flashlight that was kept on top of the hutch is gone.
  • The stereo from the Jeep is gone, as well as gaming electronics (staged crime scene?)
  • Police took some things with them when they investigated: Butler's wedding rings, which Dale Butler said his wife removed every night before bed, and a few furniture covers.
  • Police also obtained a lock from the couple's home. The tip of a key was broken off in the lock.
  • During the search for Teresa, her husband did not put much, if any effort, into helping. And, he has allegedly already moved a girlfriend into the family home 5 weeks after Teresa went missing...hmmmm.

A former co-worker of Butler's has stated that Butler sometimes complained about telephone calls she received at work from Gary Dale Butler's former spouse. Gary Dale Butler's ex-wife, who also was employed by Wal-Mart, but works at the Kennet, MO store, called Teresa Butler several of times, and that Teresa was upset by their conversations. Obviously, thier conversations were not 'Wal-Mart' related. I also learned the ex-wife has been remarried but her husband filed for divorce on January 20th, just 5 days prior to Butler's disapperance. Connection? Maybe...Maybe not. Not too much elaboration anywhere about the problems with the ex-wife. This is what Ive gathered from other posters at forums or thru reading guestbooks: Teresa met her husband when they were both working at a factory and he was still married to his first wife, I believe Teresa was also married. They both divorced and then got married, had 2 children (2boys). The first wife had issues with this, obviously a woman scorned, and there had been times when she would call Teresa up when she was at work to bother her.

It was also insinuated at this website's guestbook Where's Teresa Butler? created by a good friend of Teresa's, that one of her children might have 'witnessed' something in regards to Teresa's disappearence. With some more web searching today, I came across this site Police investigators continue inquiries into disappearance of N... and noticed a certain poster taking up for Mr. Butler. I copied and pasted 2 posts that interested me.

Ann Onnymous
Rogers, AR Thursday May 4 posted this
: Much like everything else in this world, so called "information" is spread through innuendo, speculation, theories, or just plain old gossip. I have been investigating this case since Mid-March. Today is May 03, 2006, so I will bring y'all up to date on a few things:

1. Dale did NOT have a girlfriend living with him. Rather, his best friend and his wife stayed with Dale for a couple of weeks to help him with the kids AND his own anxiousness and grief.

2. Dale is taking his oldest son to a Counselor for the good of the child.

3. Dale readily took AND passed a polygraph test soon after Teresa went missing.

4. You can rule out any theory of police misconduct and not being responsive to this case. The originating agency (Sheriff Stevens, in particular) requested and received help from the Missouri Highway Patrol. They didn't just issue a BOLO, they formed a Task Force to investigate.

5. Many leads are being followed, and evidence is being evaluated. The bottom line is that the wheels of justice move slowly. You don't like it, I don't like it, but that's the way it goes.My hat goes off to all of the people who are trying to get to the bottom of this. We all know there is "something rotten in Denmark" but just have not gotten the key to open the lock as of yet.

Hmmm, Ann Onnymous certainly sounds sure of her information but she lives in Rogers, AR how can she have inside info to the investigation?

friend of Teresa and Dale
Cape Girardeau, MO had this to say on 4/6/06:

I am a friend of Teresa and Dales. We all miss her and hope she comes home safe. We do not know who done this so I think everyone needs to quit pointing fingers and just think about those kids. They are all hurting very much. I talk to Dale every chance I get to check on them and he is hurting. If it comes down to it and he did it, he will pay, if not then you will all pay for judging someone.

Law Enforcement does feel foul play may be involved now. The Sheriff reports state Butler's sister-in-law has given police a statement about her last conversation with Teresa which occurred the nite Teresa disappeared. I am assuming she is Gary Dales's sister? The investigating officers cannot divulge the contents of her report.

So, Mr. Butler took and passed a lie detector test. I am not accusing the man of any crime, but it is not unheard of to cheat a polygraph. Many people can do it. Personally, I have very little faith in them. These are cases I found on Gary Dale Butler (I only searched 1 MO county before my database froze AGAIN!):

  • 35T039700106 traffic
  • 35V010000026 involves Crystal Gayle Butler (divorce issues)
  • 35V010000026-01 ** same as above
  • 35V010000026-02 ** same as above
  • 7TR188005200 traffic

I don't remember which blog that I read it but one of them had mentioned that Dale's ex-wife was from Kennett and her husband was a police officer. If he's a police officer is he involved in any of the investigations?

I was on a message board and one of the posters stated that you can go to to missouri casenet.com and type Gary Dale's name in and it brings up a record on him where he sideswiped a vehicle and totalled the vehicle. I do have to say that he was searching for her this weekend, eventhough he had hickeys on his neck.

If he did go out searching for her with hickeys on his neck, then he has truly reached a new level of LOW on my respect board. Disgusting. The cops did check his alibi which was supposed to be work and then breakfast with his mother but there are differences in what they say his job at work was and what a searcher found out his job was. I don't think the cops have looked too hard

I just read on Amy's website that even after Dale couldn't get a hold of Teresa the night she disappeared, he went and had breakfast with his mother, instead of going home after work. Sounds like he was really worried about her. What's really sad is that Mother's Day is coming up and her two little boys won't have a mother to spend it with. Please if you know something come forward and let her family know what happened to her.

The chances of Teresa being kidnapped and harmed by a complete stranger are not good. It is a possibility, but from all accounts Ive learned, Teresa did not live what I consider 'high risk' lifestyle, drugs and drinking or hanging out in 'bad' areas with questionable friends. Anyone in Law Enforcement will agree when I state that people are hurt or murdered by people they know/or love than hurt or murdered by complete strangers.

People do not vanish....

If you have any information, please call Sheriff Terry Stevens at 573-748-2516. The Carole Sund Carrington Foundation is offering the $5,000 reward.

This story caught my eye on St. Louis Today, and my hinky-radar went off like crazy.

1. Two cheaters got married and had two kids (more kids?).

2. One cheater gets threatening phone calls from the other cheater's last wife. (let's be real, Teresa was a nEXt wife).

3. The one cheater goes missing overnight.

4. The other cheater has breakfast with his mom instead of checking on the kids when he can't reach his one cheater.

5. Once a cheater, always a cheater.

This chick doesn't get my sympathy, and her nEXt husband doesn't get my sympathy, the kids do. She had possibly two ex's gunning for her, her own and her other cheater's former spouse. And maybe she has a violent other cheater who was gunning for her. Sounds like a big mess to me. Who else did she cheat with?

Rule #1: Don't cheat.

umm, yeah I agree about rule #1 BUT Teresa, IS still missing, regardless.

someone KNOWS the real story and I hope they come forward or PAY dearly for not doing so.

The question is, are the police checking all the hinky cheating leads and the husband? I believe than when a woman goes missing the police are not inclined to work that hard. I've been reading about this a lot, and the husband is hinky, his alibi is hinky, and it didn't seem that the leads to called numbers from her cell phone were thoroughly checked.

The people who got the calls may not have been the intended recipients. Who had those numbers before? Did anybody have a friend or relative who broke out of jail or was released from prison who was trying to hook up with them with old numbers? Somebody called two numbers and didn't find who they were looking for that night around 3:16 am.

Anyone close to Risco, please check close to Teresa's home. I have this feeling that she's very close to the area of her home. Search old wells and watery areas.

She's probably been there all this time, you say that you have...well, please check again!

Bring her home to her family.

I've had this gut feeling for a long time now that nags at me. I think that she's in a very deep old well.
Please look again.
