Tonsils, What Purpose Do We Have Them For?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This morning I woke up with a sore throat. My tonsils are swelled up bigger than Dallas. Grrrr. All I want to do is veg on the couch because I feel awful. I am so dang mad! And, why do we even have them, tonsils? I learned it in an anatomy class I took about 100 years ago, they catch germs or something like that. But, really, they have no important purpose to our well being.

Son #1 has an outing this afternoon with his church youth group, hubby is working up near KS until dark or shortly after, Toddler Terror and I had planned on riding The Old Guy to the goat farm and getting TT some goat cheese, then running errands in town. I hope I have a miraculous recovery soon. If not, TT and I will be staying home.

Remember TT's favorite toy "Brown Cow"? Now he has a new favorite one "Brown Goat". He LOVES these animals that Atwoods in B-ville sells. He wants them all. I bought him the big goat, a baby calf, and a long horned steer for his birthday which will be here in a couple of weeks.

Y'all have a super Friday......I think I'll take another cough drop and lay down in front of the TV for a bit.

Goodness, it sounds like everybody is getting sick, here in bloggerville and in real life. My grandson and daughter are both sick too.

Don't breath on me, k?

Get well soon!

When I see your horse pictures it stirs a longing in me to ride again. It has been too many years since I've been on a horse. I lived on them growing up, but then I moved to the city and haven't had much chance since. Sigh. Maybe one of these days.

We are completely on the same page. I tried to get a substitute today, but no luck. I am suffering with a sore throat, cough and fever. I need to be at home on the couch or in bed feeling miserable all alone! UGHHHHH

I just drank a V8 hoping the veggies would make me feel better, at least more energy. I went to the doc Wed and he put me on meds.

I hope we both get to feeling better ASAP.

aw... i had mine out when i was five! so, the germs go straight to my sinuses now. the old Gargle with warm salt water thing sometimes works. plus handfulls of ibuprofen, if you can manage to swallow them.

hopefully you will get some rest this weekend. :goodvibes: recover well.

wish i had a horse to ride to get goat cheese. I love them both. (cheese and horses) toddlers are awesome 70% of the time.

Like appendix no good use except to get infected and have to be removed. I had mine removed as a kid but hubby still has his and they give him fits at times.

Hope you feel better soon! I had mine out when I was 7. It was awesome -- all the popsicles I could eat. :) The appendix is what really worries me; it's like a ticking time bomb. =:O (yes, I know, I'm neurotic...)

Recently had the same question and did a little research, because I believe if God put them there, just like the appendix, they must serve an important purpose...unfortunately in our western culture, people often seem to think they know better than our Creator does...here are couple of links that I came across:
